Hike of the Week: John Rock Trail
One of our favorite recommendations for a Winter hike in Pisgah National Forest, John Rock trail is a 5-mile loop with a wonderful summit at 3,320 feet. The John Rock hike starts at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education. You’ll pass Cedar Rock Falls on the way up, and thanks to the leafless trees of the season you’ll enjoy a good view of the small but beautiful waterfall. A fairly difficult, steep ascent ends in rewarding views of the valley, Pisgah Ridge, and Looking Glass Rock.
HikeWNC is an excellent resource for any hiker in Western North Carolina. You can quickly see trail length, difficulty, tread, elevation gain, exact start locations and directions, and more information on the John Rock loop hike before heading out on the trail.
